Myeisha Marie Van, 32, 200 block New Shackle Island Road, was charged with (1 riving on a suspended license. She was released on a citation. Sgt. Nathan Simmons made the arrest.

During the second week of April each year telecommunicators are recognized and celebrated for their dedication and sacrifice to serve the public. This year National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is being observed from April 12 through April 18.
Local top student named 2026 Coca-Cola Scholar
Claire Bradford, a senior at Lincoln County High School in Fayetteville, has been recognized as one of the country’s most outstanding high school leaders by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and has been awarded a $20,000 college scholarship.

Fayetteville Police Chief Bennie Jennings congratulated Patrolman Derek Jordan and Patrolman Ryan Thomas on their recent graduation from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Academy in Nashville.
FPU’s Student Utility Board explores more departments
Fayetteville Public Utilities’ (FPU) Student Utility Board (SUB) met in January to tour the telecommunications department and learn about FPU’s internet and digital phone services. During its February meeting students focused on the accounting, billing and marketing departments.

FHS Prom King and Queen
Fayetteville High School’s Will Pettie and Aaliyah Halcomb were voted King and Queen of the 2026 FHS Prom held Saturday night. Following a grand march for family and friends at FHS, students continued prom festivities at Evergreen Gunter Hollow.

25 years ago April 11, 2001 Easter ‘Eggstravaganza’ - Stephen Dean and Madison Phillips check over their findings following Saturday’s Easter Eggstravaganza sponsored by the Fayetteville Department of Parks and Recreation at the Lions Club Complex. Well over 100 out for the hunts. Two-year-old Stephen is the son of Michael and Patsy Dean of Fayetteville, and Madison, also 2, is the daughter of Sane and Laurie Phillips of Fayetteville.
