County records 33.7% voter turnout in election
With a 33.7% voter turnout, Lincoln County elected Walt Patrick as mayor and reelected Tull Malone as sheriff for another four years. Of the 24 county commissioners serving the eight districts, voters elected 14 new representatives, while returning 10 incumbents. Election results are preliminary until the numbers are certified by the election commission.

Commissioner Cunningham gives update on county’s industrial parks developments
District 6 County Commissioner and chairman of the joint Fayetteville- Lincoln County Industrial Oversight Committee Doug Cunningham presented his last quarterly Industrial Development Board (IBD) report during the July 21 County Commission meeting. He gave updates on Runway Centre, Bullington Industrial Park, Fayetteville-Lincoln County Industrial Park and Horizon Park.
HH Health System President Seals gives semiannual report
Mary Beth Seals, president, Huntsville Hospital Lincoln Health, presented her semiannual report to the Fayetteville Board of Mayor and Alderman and the Lincoln County Commission during their July respectively monthly meetings. “We’re going into year four with our affiliation with Huntsville Hospital,” she said. You hear me say, ‘This is going to be the best year ever’ every year, but there’s a lot of good things coming this year.”
Fraudulent check written on elderly couple’s account
An attempt was recently made to withdraw funds from an elderly couple’s bank account. The wife discovered a fraudulent check had been written for thousands of dollars against their bank account, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
