3 local schools awarded $10,000 for participating in School Uplift

Museum Association board receives State grant to inventory contents of 100 year-old Borden Milk Plant building
The Fayetteville-Lincoln County Museum and Event Center is celebrating America’s 250th anniversary and is planning for the 100 years of the Borden Milk Plant building, which houses the museum, in June 2027. The Museum Association board oversees the museum. Current board members include James Patterson, president, John Woodall, advisor, Mark Mitchell, treasurer, Eugene Ham, Jim Hannah, Sandy Law, Heather McCormick, events manager, Dean Cornelius, Farris Beasley, John Penney, Amelia Webb, secretary, LaGay Horton, Debbie Yorba, Gina Minnis, and Bob Stidfole, advisor. 24th annual Jr. Fishing Rodeo is June 6
Children enjoy fishing at a previous Jr. Fishing Rodeo. The 24th annual Jr. Fishing Rodeo will be held Saturday, June 6 at the Stone Bridge Park canal. Presented by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, the City of Fayetteville Parks and Recreation, and Elks Lodge #1972, the rodeo is for kids up to 12 years of age. The event will be from 8 a.m. until noon, with registration at 7 a.m.

Ardmore Public Library awarded national grant to Increase accessibility
The Ardmore Public Library has been selected as one of 300 libraries across the country to participate in round four of Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities, an American Library Association (ALA) initiative that provides community engagement and accessibility resources to small and rural libraries to help them better serve people with disabilities.

25 years ago May 30, 2001 SPECIAL DIPLOMA - Stan Golden, director of schools for Lincoln County, congratulates Billy Parker, a World War II veteran, just after presenting him with his high school diploma. The veteran was drafted into the service just prior to his own graduation. More than 300 seniors also received their diplomas during the exercises on Falcon Field Thursday evening.

SCHRA to provide meals for children through Summer Food Service Program
S outh Central Human Resource Agency is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, and reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service (not all prohibited bases apply to all programs), SCHRA officials said. According to officials, meals will be provided, at a first come, first serve basis, at the sites from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on May 29, June 5, June 12, June 18, June 26, July 2, July 10, July 17 and July 24 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.
