Birds are a-springing

A friend and I were riding the beautiful backroads of our special and unique part of the world when we flushed a roadside crew of goldfinches. The little flitterers of sparkling gold fled us, startled but fearless, knowing our big selves would not and could not harm them.

FCE Top 10 Homemakers announced at 100% Luncheon

The Lincoln County Family Community Education (FCE) held their annual 100% Luncheon at the Gleghorn Hospitality House on Saturday, April 11, sponsored annually by the Bank of Lincoln County. FCE’s sole purpose is for community support and outreach.

4-H well represented at 2026 state Chopped Challenge contest

Lincoln County 4-H was represented well at the 2026 Tennessee 4-H Chopped Challenge Contest, held March 21 in Spencer, Tennessee. Team 1 was named “Sugar, Spice & Everything Nice,” with 4-H’ers Marlee Bradford, Rosetta Fowler, and Scotlynn Osterhaus. Their mystery ingredient was tofu. Not missing a beat, the team went right to cooking with the tofu and won Grand Champion. Their recipe was titled “Green Goodness Tofu Tacos.”

Fire officials advise burning responsibly

While burn permits from the Tennessee Division of Forestry are not required for residents outside the Fayetteville City limits in Lincoln County from May 16 through Oct. 14, there are numerous laws governing open burning and fines and/or jail time for those who don’t heed the statutes.

Jason Loyd Jackson, 44, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Vanderbilt Tullahoma Harton Hospital. He was born on June 2, 1981, in
