Lady Falcon Softball brings excitement to the community

As the new school year is getting underway, Lady Falcon Softball Coach Cody Gaskill wrapped up a standout first season. The 2026 campaign was a Cinderella story: the Lady Falcons went 36-8-2 and reached the state tournament in Coach Gaskill’s first year. Their success brought a Lady Falcons Softball buzz to the community and inspired the coaches to host summer camps for skills, pitching, and catching in July for nearly 100 athletes.
Linda Williams receives Kiwanis Citizen of the Year Award

Linda Williams was unaware she would be the recipient of the “Citizen of the Year Award” when she was asked to speak at the Fayetteville Kiwanis luncheon on Wednesday. Her life achievements, spanning from her teaching career to the establishment of the Lincoln County Warrior Exhibit, have been many. “Linda has done a remarkable job,” said Fayetteville Kiwanis Club President Bill Heath.
