Community to celebrate America’s 250 birthday

America’s 250th birthday will be celebrated on July 4, 2026, marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence that announced the nation’s separation from Great Britain and established the principles of liberty and self-government.

Falcon Baseball Camp

Lincoln County baseball coach Jake Logan welcomed 87 young athletes to his first Falcon Baseball Camp since becoming head coach of the Falcons. The four-day camp, designed for players ages 6 to 13, focused on teaching the fundamentals of throwing, hitting, and base running. He was assisted by members of the Falcon baseball team and assistant coaches.
Lady Falcon Volleyball Camp

Since taking over the Lady Falcon Volleyball program at Lincoln County High School 12 years ago, Coach Sarah Phillips has led a three-day volleyball camp for girls from pre-K through eighth grade each year. This year, 65 participants attended, continuing the tradition of consistently raising the skill level of middle school programs across the county. Coach Phillips was assisted by members of the Lady Falcon Volleyball team and assistant coaches.

Petersburg BOMA approves budget and fills board vacancy
The Petersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved on second reading an ordinance adopting its fiscal year 2026-27 budget beginning July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027. Before Mayor Shantel Gatlin called the monthly meeting to order, a public hearing regarding the budget was held. However, no one in attendance signed up to speak. The public hearing was adjourned.
