Fayetteville’s annual Fourth of July celebration is June 27
As America is celebrating its 250th birthday this year, the City of Fayetteville’s Fourth of July celebration will be held Saturday, June 27 at Don Davidson Park. Sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department, the event gets underway at 4:30 p.m. Fireworks will shoot off around 9 p.m.

Apollo 11 remembered through history of late Fayetteville businessman
A photograph of a matted and framed newspaper article and photo of U.S. Navy Lt. Richard J. Barrett, who was one of the pilots who assisted in the recovery of the Apollo 11 astronauts and module on July 24, 1969. Apollo 11 touched down on the surface of the moon on July 20, 1969. Barrett was in charge of training and flight proficiency of all pilots and air crewmen for the Apollo 11.

William “Ed” Simms is seated in the office of his private law practice on Main Avenue North where he will continue serving clients. Simms began serving as the County Attorney for Lincoln County 24 years ago and stepped down from that position on May 31.
