Letters to the Editor

Thank you, Fayetteville, for stepping up Dear Editor,

I am sure there may be many citizens of Fayetteville who did not know until recently that the Town of Petersburg has been a long-term customer of the Fayetteville Water Department (Fayetteville Public Utilities) purchasing water and paying a significant bill each month on time. When Petersburg’s water became contaminated, the Fayetteville Board stepped up and worked with the Petersburg Board to provide a safe source. A waterline was run with Fayetteville picking up customers in Howell and to Petersburg from there. A master meter was installed at Howell and Petersburg pays each month for water consumed. A win-win for each.

Thank you, Fayetteville, for again stepping up and working with us for the good of all.

Next month, Fayetteville will take over the Petersburg Water System and will have Howell and all the customers in the Town of Petersburg.

Sincerely, Derrick Thompson Former mayor of the Town of Petersburg and District 2 county commissioner Petersburg
