Williams, 78, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away on April 24, 2026, at HH Lincoln Health. Born on May 4, 1947, in Etowah County, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Hooper and Ruth Keener Hooper. A dedicated member of the McBurg First Baptist Church, Joann was well-known in the community for her years of service as a school bus driver for Lincoln County Schools. In her personal time, she found great peace and joy tending to her flower gardens.
A funeral service was conducted Sunday, April 26, 2026, at McBurg First Baptist Church with Bro. Timmy Scott officiating. Burial followed in Wright’s Cemetery.
Joann is survived by her husband, James Williams; her son, Dwayne (Tammy) Carpenter; and step-sons, Daron (Darlene) Williams and Chris (Sandra) Williams; granddaughter, Nici (Clint) Gill; stepgrandchildren, Brittany (Devon) Schmidt and Sidney Williams; greatgrandchildren, Callie Gill and Kelsie Gill; and siblings, Dorothy (Stanley) Flynt and Danny (Kay) Hooper, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her first husband, Randal Carpenter, and her siblings, Lamar Hooper and Barbara Seymour.
