Lincoln County softball’s win streak came to an end May 13. The Lady Falcons were defeated in a road contest for the 4A Region 3 championship.

The week began two days earlier, as Lincoln County played host to Walker Valley in the first round of the region tournament. The Lady Falcons won that night 8-0.

Lincoln County struggle to score early on, only mounting three runs in the first four innings. Then came the fifth, where the Lady Falcons scored five.

The fifth inning was highlighted by junior third baseman Lily Pope. She launched a three-run bomb to center field, making for her first career homerun.

The win over Walker Valley meant an opportunity at a region championship. Lincoln County was shut down in their road trip to East Hamilton 0-4.

Freshman Emmaline Davis proved why she was the ace of East Hamilton’s pitching staff. She managed to hold the Lady Falcons to just four hits while recording nine strikeouts.

While the loss did not mean the end of Lincoln County’s season, it did make for their toughest test yet. The Lady Falcons had to take on the state’s ranked team in Green Hill with a trip to Murfreesboro on the line.
