With love and heartfelt appreciation Dear Editor,
In the wee hours of March 10, 2026, Fayetteville-Lincoln County lost one of its — in my opinion — most precious residents. Most of Fayetteville knew him from the places he worked — Daly’s Gulf, Lindsey’s 431, Gowan’s Car Care and Franke Inc. That person was my brother, David Lindsey.
Having never been sick his whole life, David was told in 2019 that his heart was in bad shape. Even with the pacemaker and defibrillator, meds and such, David needed a heart transplant.
From 2019 through 2026, David was back and forth to the doctors, the emergency room, then in ICU and CCU and twice on life support. But God, in His sweet mercy took our David home, where there is no more pain, no tears, and no sorrow.
That being said, I would to thank each and every person who knew and loved David and was there for him and JoAnn so many times.
Starting with all the doctors, nurses, techs, EMS personnel, Med-Flight, etc., and not just here at Lincoln Medical Center but the Winchester hospital and especially St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.
Thank you to each person who came to the funeral home. Thanks for the calls, the cards, sweet words of comfort but mostly for all the prayers (that we still need).
A special thank you to Ms. Jane, Mike, Jeff, Landon, Richard and all the wonderful people at Bradford Appliance for everything you did for JoAnn so she could stay right by David’s side.
Thank you to special friends, Mike and Lori Stewart, Richard Smith, Terry Monks (who David thought of as his second Dad and a wonderful friend) and all of David’s close friends.
Thank you, Nan, for staying right by JoAnn’s side that Friday night.
Thank you to my sweet Jason, Aunt Wanda and Cindy Kay for everything y’all did for me. (You know what you did).
Thank you to all of David’s nieces and nephews who were at the funeral home.
Thank you to Robert Moorehead and Ronnie Thomas for the precious words of encouragement and sweet prayers that have helped me so much.
Thank you to Jennings Moore-Cortner Funeral Home for all you did.
Thank you to Flower House for the lovely arrangements you made and a very special thank you to my sweet sister-in-law and David’s precious wife, JoAnn Lindsey, for taking such good care of David, especially these past few months. You are a wonderful wife, friend, and caregiver. We are all so blessed to have you in our family. Thank you for being so patient and loving with David during some really bad, rough nights (No one but David and the Lord knows what you went through but you stuck right by him until the very end. Thank you JoAnn for loving my baby brother as much (or maybe more) than Mama and me did.
I hope I didn’t leave anyone out. If so, I’m sorry. For all “the little things” you did, thank you from the bottom of my heart! God Bless you all!
