Lady Falcon Softball secures top district seed

On Monday night, Lincoln County High School’s Mattie Graham showcased her speed, rounding second and racing to third for a standup triple against Lawrence County. Graham went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs, helping lead the Lady Falcons to a 7-2 victory. On Tuesday, the Lady Falcons continued their momentum, shutting out Warren County on the road, 10-0. This week, LCHS travels to Ardmore on Monday (JV 5 p.m. / Varsity 7 p.m.), then hosts Cookeville for a Tuesday doubleheader at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. On Thursday, the team travels to Giles County for a 6:30 p.m. matchup. — Paul Henry photo

Lincoln County softball went 2-0 last week. One of those wins locked the top seed for the 4A District 6 tournament.

The Lady Falcons started the week with a 7-2 victory over Lawrence County. Lincoln County did all their damage by the fourth inning.

The more important game followed the next night as the Lady Falcons went on the road to route Warren County 100, claiming the No. 1 seed in the district outright.

Brenna Edwards dominated the circle, tossing 12 strikeouts in seven innings to compliment an offense that collected 15 hits.

Lincoln County wraps up the regular season this week, which includes a double header at home to complete district play against Cookeville.
