Patricia Lou Elliott Payne, 69, of Toney, Alabama, was born on Dec. 5, 1955, and passed on Valentine’s Day of 2025, joining her beloved husband, Vern Kelvin Payne (2021).

Patty, an Army “brat,” was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Elliott. She traveled across the U.S. and Europe with her parents and siblings — Kathleen, Christine, and John — before the family settled in the Huntsville area, where she graduated from Sparkman High School.

Later, she married Vern Payne and raised two sons, eventually becoming “Nana” to five grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Jeremy, 45, (wife Heather, children Olivia and Jett), and Jasen, 42, (wife Arin, children Marley, Abby Lou, and Jake).

Patty was a lifelong hard worker and offered both friendship and a loving home to all animals in need. She was affectionately known as Mother, Nana, and Vern’s Patty.

In accordance with her wishes, Patty chose cremation and requested no formal services.
