Mary Ellen Tipper, 93, of Petersburg, Tennessee, passed away June 9, 2024, at NHS Oakwood in Lewisburg.

Funeral services were held June 13, 2024, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Graham officiating. Burial followed in the Unity Cemetery.

Mary was born on Oct. 20, 1930, in Dellrose, Tennessee, to the late Clarence Buford Hughey and Nellie Allene Curtis Hughey. She worked as a seamstress and was of the Methodist Faith. Mary was a professional flower gardener. She loved tending to her many indoor and outdoor flowers year-round. Her green thumb could keep about any flower alive.

Survivors include her sons, Kenny (Robin) Tipper, and Gary (Wanda) Tipper; grandchildren, Michelle (Greg) Merritt, Hillary (Batman) Foster, Brent Harris (Brandy) Tipper, Kelly Tipper, Kacie (Taylor) Roberts, and Andrew Noble; sisters, Joyce Norwood, Juell Adams, and Elaine Moore; brother, Doug Hughey; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Leslie Tipper; daughter, Marilyn Sue Noble; brother, Ernie D. Hughey; and a sister, Patty Dorning, and Lois Norwood.
