Ernest “Ernie”  Roles, our beloved husband, daddy, grandaddy, brother and friend gained his heavenly wings on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, at St. Thomas Midtown, in Nashville, Tennessee, surrounded by his beloved family. Ernest Gordon Roles, known as Ernie, was born on Feb.14, 1957, in Washington, D.C., to the late Elwood “Boots” Roles and Sarah Ruth Crabtree Roles. Ernie loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When not spending time with family, Ernie could be found working diligently in the family business, Roles Electric and Plumbing, LLC, alongside his son. Mr. Roles was a member of the Maxwell Baptist Church.

Ernie married Brenda Williams Roles, on Dec. 18, 1977. Additional survivors include his children, Michelle (John) Garrich, Raquel Knowles (Jackie) Robertson; Ernie (Stacy) Roles II, and Jennie (Cam) Roles-Walter; grandchildren, Stephen (Anne-Kathryn) Baugh, Katlin (Rob) Lee, Robert (Sidney) Baugh, Anna Robertson, Tamia Robertson, Ernie (Lexie) Roles, III, Ethan Roles, Sydney Roles, Grayson Walter, and Tripper Walter; great-grandchildren, Weston Lee, Thomas Baugh, Graham Baugh, Camden Baugh, Samuel Baugh, and Landan Roberson; sister, Tammy (Curtis) Painter; brother-in-law, Tommy Wright; and several beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Wright.

A funeral service was held on his and Brenda’s 46th wedding anniversary, on Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Robertson officiating. Burial followed in Roles Cemetery with military honors.
