James Wilson Spray, 83, of Fayetteville passed this life on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023.

Graveside services were held Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at Mulberry Cemetery in Lincoln County.

A native of Fayetteville, James was the son of the late Homer and Mildred Sumners Spray. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Malcolm Spray.

James loved bird hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with those he loved.

He is survived by his wife Betty Joyce Simmons Spray of Fayetteville, and they have shared 49 years together. James is also survived by his daughter, Jenny (Mike) Mitchell of Lynchburg, son, Randy (Carol) Spray of Shelbyville, brother, Bill (Linda) Spray of Flintville, sisters, Emily Tate of Lewisburg, Lou (Richard) Pitcock of Fayetteville, Becky (Rex) O’Neal of Fayetteville, grandchildren, Ashley (Zach) Mitchell, Kara Sanders and Brandy Dunn. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
