Kaylon Jean Owens Luttrell, 62, passed away on Dec. 1, 2022 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1960, in Lincoln County to Randall and Shelby Owens Brewer.

As a child, Kaylon dealt with wearing braces for a condition she was born with and back problems throughout her life that were a source of other health issues. After graduating high school in 1978, Kaylon became the first in her family to complete her education. She graduated from Motlow State Community College in 1981 and the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga in 1983 with a major in criminal justice and a minor in psychology. She began her career at Taft Youth Center in Pikeville, Tennessee, where she remained until she retired in 2012.

In addition to being a counselor at Taft, she became a training coordinator for the state of Tennessee.

While she eventually conducted training for state employees, she met and married Clyde Luttrell in 1987. In 1989, they welcomed their only son, Seth Thomas Luttrell, at Crossville Medical Center, Crossville, Tennessee. The marriage ended in 1991.

In addition to her work, Kaylon had many hobbies. She played piano and accordion and collected art and jewelry. She loved giving gifts all year long, but she especially enjoyed Christmas and its festivities.

Kaylon is preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her son, Seth; nephew, Tyler Dewayne Moore; and her mother, Shelby Brewer.

Memorial services are planned for Thursday, May 6, 2023, at Higgins Funeral Home, 213 Market Street East, Fayetteville, Tennessee, with visitation at 1 p.m. and the service beginning at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Billy Langford officiating. Burial will follow in Elora Cemetery.
