Barbara Ann McCaa Obituary
Barbara Ann McCaa, 78, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2023.
She was born to Rayfield and Mable Harrell on April 3, 1944. in Amite, Louisiana. She was one of seven children and was preceded in death by her mother, father and four of her siblings including her fraternal twin, Betty; sister, Delores; and brothers, Ray and Charles.
Barbara grew up in Amite, Louisiana. As a young adult she moved to Chicago to seek more opportunities. Barbara’s warm and joyful personality always made it easy for her to make friends. In Chicago she met Robert McCaa Jr., the brother of her neighbor, Ruth. They soon became inseparable and were married on Oct.1, 1968. For 54 years she would always find a way next to Robert’s side on the couch by the end of the night. Together they raised their two sons, Tyrone and Robert Jr. and shared good times with the extended family, always enjoying family trips, laughs, music and dancing. She loved the camera and would always say “video me.” Barbara was a loving, caring and understanding mother, but she would not waiver when it came to right and wrong. She was not a talker, but a doer, teaching by example.
In addition to her love for her family, Barbara had a deep love for her heavenly father, Jehovah. She started studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1978 with her Bible teacher, Mamie Johnson. Barbara quickly began to take her Bible study very serious and always tried to do what was right “in Jehovah’s eyes.” She was baptized on March 3, 1979. That began her decades of faithful service to Jehovah, actively sharing her faith and living her faith until the end. She enjoyed service as a regular pioneer and attended pioneer school in 1987. She was always early to arrive at the Kingdom Hall and no matter how she was feeling she was there raising her hand to comment and express her faith.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memories husband, Robert; sons, Tyrone and Robert Jr.; grandchildren, Jocelyn, Zoe, Cameron; great-grandchild, Joey; brother, Herbert Harrell and sister, Estelle. Barbara was loved by everyone that knew her.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Barbara Ann McCaa.
