National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week observed April 12 through April 18

Staff reports

During the second week of April each year telecommunicators are recognized and celebrated for their dedication and sacrifice to serve the public. This year National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is being observed from April 12 through April 18.

When people in need call 911, they are often experiencing their worst day. They may be scared, traumatized or need help for a loved one. The first voice they hear when they talk to a telecommunicator is one who calmly gathers information, gives life-saving instructions and dispatches the appropriate help.

Law enforcement, emergency medical services and fire departments depend on the information that is provided to them.

The public is encouraged to thank the Lincoln County telecommunicators for their commitment to helping them in their times of need.
