Joseph Craig Widner Obituary

Joseph Craig Widner passed away on Oct. 17, 2025, at this home in Milan, Tennessee, after a long battle with cancer. Memorial services will take place at a later date at the First United Methodist Church in Milan.

Joe was born on Sept. 15, 1954, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Anne and TC Widner. Joe graduated from Fayetteville High School in Fayetteville, Tennessee, and then from the University of Alabama in 1976. He then attended the University of Tennessee in Memphis graduating with a dental degree in 1981. He had successful dental practices in Loretto, Tennessee, before moving to Milan. Joe was also a very talented musician, playing guitar and saxophone for the Four on the Floor band for more than 30 years in Middle and East Tennessee. He participated in the Fabulous Fifties cancer show in Fayetteville, Tennessee, for many years. Joe has touched the lives of many people with his kindness and understanding. He was loved as a dentist, musician, husband, and father.

Joe is survived by his wife, Cyndi Widner; daughters, Christie (Jeremiah) Plunkett and Mia Jean Shu; sister, Debbie Widner Woodward; brother-in-law, Tommy (Larheasa) Tidwell; and sister-in-law, Sandy (Steve) Langston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Joe is preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Christopher Widner, sister, Diana Widner, and brother-in-law, Robert Corey Woodward.
