Canning College to be held 3 days in June
UT TSU Extension Lincoln County Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is offering the basics of canning classes from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on June 11, 16 and 23. Participants will learn research-based canning methods for preserving food.
The June 11 and 16 classes will cover both pressure canning and water bath. Class members will leave with a jar of jam, green beans and tomatoes.
On June 23 the class will concentrate on canning salsas and meat, including wild game such as rabbit and deer. Cost of each class is $35.
Canning College will be held at the Ralph Hastings Building, UT TSU Lincoln County Extension auditorium, 208 Davidson Street East. Register by calling 931-433-1582 or email osterha@utk. edu.
