Falcon baseball season ends earlier than expected

Lincoln County’s baseball season came to an abrupt end May 2. The Falcons were eliminated on home turf by the eventual district champion Shelbyville Golden Eagles.
Lincoln County was shutdown 6-3 in game 1. Shelbyville’s ace Kaleb Maillet went the full seven inning distance, allowing two of his three runs in the first inning.
The Falcons kept hope alive with 10-0 thrashing of Shelbyville in game 2. After a rough 0.2 inning start for Rhett Persell, Carson Haney finished the final 5.1 innings for Lincoln County in just 54 pitches.
Then came game three and a result nobody saw coming. Shelbyville scored two runs in the first inning, taking momentum back and run ruling the Falcons 10-0 in five innings.
Lincoln County ends the 2026 season with a 26-10 overall record. Their campaign ended painfully in the semifinals of the district tournament.
The 2026 senior class leaves as the winningest class in program history. They graduate with 108 career wins, two district championships, and a state tournament appearance in 2023.
