Foster Friendly Lincoln County Coalition Events May 2, 4 and 7

During the month of May the Foster Friendly Lincoln County Coalition (FFLCC) is hosting three events that highlight foster families, businesses and community.

The first event is a Foster Friendly Fun Day hosted for foster families from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2 at the Patrick Rehab & Wellness Center. The event is designed to honor foster families, give them space to connect with other families and have a lot of fun! Organizers will be giving away freebies and food for foster and kinship families. The Patrick is located at 1001 Huntsville Highway.

On Monday, May 4, the Foster Friendly Lincoln County Coalition Community kickoff begins at 10 a.m. at the Lincoln County Courthouse bandstand.

The event celebrates and honors the work that has been accomplished and is being done by many. It will be the launch of a collaboration with Lincoln County Mayor Bill Newman in order to create additional support and awareness for foster families during the next year. This event will include foster families, the FFLCC coalition, foster-friendly businesses in the area, city officials and faith communities that have been serving foster families.

The FFLCC presents Foster Care 101, a first steps panel at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at Riverside Christian Academy. Experienced foster parents, Department of Children’s Services staff and local nonprofits will help others learn about the foster care needs in our area. Local home business and faith communities are urged to become involved and begin making a difference in the lives of 47 kids already in foster care in Lincoln County.
