Falcon Baseball sweeps Shelbyville

Lincoln County baseball won both games of their district series over Shelbyville last week. The Falcons won 7-2 at home and 8-3 on the road.
Game one was on home turf for Lincoln County. After scoring the game’s first run in the bottom of the first, the Falcons found themselves down 1-2 entering the bottom of the fourth.
Then arrived Carson Haney to the plate, who after hard fought at bat to work a 2-2 count, the sophomore launched a no doubt home run to left field to tie the game.
Lincoln County built off Haney’s bomb, scoring six runs combined in innings four, five and six. The cherry on top was a three-run shot from senior Ian Weaver to seal the win, 7-2.
The Falcons went on the road the next night and jumped on Shelbyville early, scoring five runs on Shelbyville’s starter in the first three innings. Lincoln County added three more runs in the fifth to lead 8-0 before Shelbyville scored their three runs.
Clint Quick picked up the win on the mound for the Falcons, striking out five in his 5.1 innings of work.
Four games are slated for Lincoln County this week. It begins with a road trip against powerhouse Christ Presbyterian Academy. It will be capped off by senior night Friday against Giles County.
