Walter Derrick Mearse, 55, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, at Lincoln Medical Center.

He was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee, on July 17, 1968, the son of the late Rubin Jefferson Mearse and LaBrenda Jean Sullivan. Derrick worked as a truck driver.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Alda George Mearse and James and Thelma Curry Jean.

Mr. Mearse is survived by his wife, Angela Mearse; daughters, Crystal LaShay Mearse and Natasha Jade Mearse; grandchildren, Tanner Lee Baker and Delilah Skye Baker; sisters, Detra (Freeman) Payne and Dalana (Matt) Beeles; brothers, Darron (Lena) Mearse and Dee Mearse; aunts, Darlean (David) Sullivan and Karon (Chuck) Weatherman; uncles: Gayre Jean, Nyle (Cindy) Jean and Dane Jean; favorite cousins, Devin Sullivan and Lisa Atchley; a host of niece and nephews; and his cats, Stonewall, Bugs and Arya and dogs, Austin and Bella.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2023, in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Bro. Ian Bloxham officiating. Burial will follow in Stateline Cemetery. Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
