Michael Eron Tinney Obituary
Michael Eron Tinney, 79, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away March 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services were held March 16, 2024, at Fayetteville First Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Fowler officiating. A private burial followed at the Tinney Farm Cemetery with family.
Mike was born on July 5, 1944, in Paducah, Kentucky, to the late Jack Gibson Tinney and Robbie McGuire Derryberry. Mike graduated from Butler High School in 1962 and went on a football scholarship to the University of Georgia to play tackle and guard. He finished his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He was a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church and served as chairman of the deacons. Mr. Tinney was also a member of the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association and a Leadership Lincoln graduate. Mike was vice president of facilities maintenance with SAIC of Huntsville.
Mr. Tinney enjoyed hunting, cattle farming, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Cindy Steigerwald Tinney; son, Mike (Stephanie) Tinney II of Birmingham, Alabama; daughter, Kristin (Terry) Mitchell of Tullahoma, Tennessee; grandchildren, Conner Tinney, Cameron Tinney, Carsyn Tinney, Drake Mitchell, and Leigha Norwood (Michael); great-grandchildren Caleigh Norwood and Landon Norwood; brother, Ernest (Ginny) Hulsey; sister-in-law, Sarajane Tarter; brothers-in-law, Tim (Paula) Steigerwald, and Todd (Pam) Steigerwald; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Russel Hill Cancer Foundation, Huntsville Hudson Alpha Foundation for their Memory, or Mobility Program and Hospice Foundation of America.
