Bobby Glen Phelps Obituary

Bobby Glenn Phelps, 70, of Kelso, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 31, 1955, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, to the late Mitchell and Jessie (Simms) Phelps. Bobby was a proud truck driver, retiring after 25 dedicated years on the road. He was also a knowledgeable mechanic who enjoyed working with his hands, and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. Gentle, kind, loving, smart, and giving, Bobby was a devoted husband and father who exemplified patience and selflessness throughout his life. He was well known for his calm spirit and his favorite quote, “Main thing is, don’t get excited,” a reminder he shared often with those around him. He also attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Wayne Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy Phelps; children, Bridget (Bryan) McMeen, Patrick Phelps (Ana Jones), and Mitch Phelps (Josie Brown); grandchildren, Travis McMeen (Emma Trussell), Will McMeen, Ella McMeen, Paige McMeen, Lenley McMeen, Brody Phelps, Eli Phelps, Tristan Phelps, and Carter Phelps; siblings, Ronnie (Marie) Phelps, LaVerne (Tony) Storey, Nancy Brown, Shorty Phelps; and his special furry companion, Sadie Mae.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, at Jennings Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 p.m.

Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 181 Majors Boulevard in Lynchburg, is serving the family of Bobby Glen Phelps.
