It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Cowan, who left this world on June 26, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on Dec. 31, 1964, in Lewisburg, Tennessee.

Betty was a Christian and a dedicated worker, known for her warm personality and love for people. She cherished moments spent with her family, creating fond memories of playing hopscotch, jump rope and jacks, as well as making mud pies as a child. Those special times spent sitting on her grandmother’s porch remain deeply treasured.

Betty is survived by her loving companion, Jimmy Cowan; her brothers, Carey Harwell, David Glen Harwell and Dennis Ray Harwell. She is survived by her sister, Lisa Seals (Jackson); along with several nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

Preceding her in death were her parents, David Thomas Harwell and Ann Hargrove Sullivan; her paternal grandparents, Thomas Harwell and Etta Mae King; and her maternal grandparents, James and Amanda Hargrove.

Betty was a homebody at heart but found joy in taking car rides and indulging in her love for shopping. Her caring nature and vivacious spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life service was held July 12, 2025, in Lewisburg, Tennessee.
