Evelyn Corder Barnes Obituary

Evelyn Corder Barnes, 99, of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2024. A graveside service was held on Thursday morning, Oct. 31, 2024, at the Riverview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville. Mitch Davis and Jimmy Jean officiated.

Evelyn was born in the Corders Crossroads community to the late John Jacob and Martha Norman Corder. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Philip Barnes; son, Dennis Barnes of Crossville, Tennessee; infant sister, Allean Corder; and brother, William Corder (Dot) of Corders Crossroads. She was baptized at the age of 12 at the Corders Crossroads Church of Christ where her dad served as one of the elders. She helped build the B29 Bombers of WW II in Atlanta, Georgia, before coming back to Lincoln County, getting married and raising three boys in Nashville, Tennessee. She was a homemaker and member of the Overton Home Demonstration Club for many years. After her husband died in 1994, she lived the remainder of her life in Franklin, Tennessee. She was a faithful member of the Franklin Church of Christ and attended services regularly up until a few days before her death.

She is survived by son, Johnny (Julie) Barnes of Nashville, Tennessee; son Phil (Wanda) of Franklin, Tennessee; and daughter-in-law, Carol Barnes of Crossville, Tennessee. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Nick Barnes of Crossville, Tennessee, Laura LaPrad (Louis) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Kelly Weaver (Brandon) of Nolensville, Tennesseee, and Kimberly Wright (Drew) of Franklin, Tennessee. In addition, she is survived by six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
