Selena Jewel Vasquez Obituary

Selena Jewel Vasquez, 16, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024. She was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee, on July 24, 2008. She was a high school student and she attended Fayetteville First Baptist Church.

“Selena was an extraordinary young girl, and she held many ambitions in life. She was treasured by everyone in the community and then on. When she wasn’t playing with her family’s cat or asking people to buy her snack from the vending machine, she was being a mischief either with her close friends or family. Selena’s laughter was contagious, able to resonate with an entire room. In school she was involved in medical science class, looking to become an ultrasound technician or a registered nurse. She held much school spirit whether participating in special events or going out to the Friday night games. Selena loved movies, TV shows and video games. One of her all-time favorite franchises was Five Night at Freddy’s. Some of her well-loved foods included Takis, candy or a fresh burger off the grill. She adored animals of all kinds, often bringing in a stray or a rescue off the street. Selena held numerous talents such as her undeniable ability in journaling, sketching, and passion in learning. Selena’s character was nothing short of willpower. She battled insurmountable challenges, and leaves her legacy for all to find strength in. Selena’s story is one of hope, fulfilled with a smile that matched her dimples.”

Selena is preceded in death by her grandparents, Dannie Ray and Jeannie Jewel Ames Rodgers and great-grandparents, Dillard and Jewel Dean Ames and James & Ruth Rodgers.

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Marquita Rodgers and Jose Saenz; sister, Sierra Dawn Arguello; brother, Samuel Ray Saenz Rodgers; aunt, Leticia Stiles; great-aunts, Janice Brown and Deborah Rodgers; and great-uncles, Paul Brown, Randy Ames, Jeffrey Ames and Tim Rodgers.
