Dorothy Reynolds Groce Obituary

Dorothy Reynolds Groce, 101, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away June 10, 2024, with her family at her side at Donalson Care Center in Fayetteville.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 14, 2024, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Wayne McGee officiating. Burial followed in Booneville Cemetery.

Dorothy was born on March 4, 1923, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, to the late Jim B. Reynolds and Nannie Lorene Faulkner Reynolds. She worked as a seamstress with Serbin for many years. Dorothy was a lifelong member of Stoney Point Church of Christ and currently a member of the Booneville Church of Christ. She had an independent streak, living on her own until recently, and she loved working in her garden and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed word search puzzles and catching lady bugs.

Survivors include her children, Richard (Debbie) Groce, Alice Chapman, Steve (Vicky) Groce; grandchildren, John (Erica) Groce, Katie (Adam) Ryan, Terri (Rick) Carlton, Teena (Burk) Williams, Waid (Leslie) Groce, Justin (Krystal) Groce; great-grandchildren, Harlan Groce, Isabel Groce, Lennon Ryan, Graham Ryan, Andrew (Sara) Carlton, David Carlton, Hunter (Taylor) Groce, Dalton Cook, and Makenzie “MJ” Groce; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to her parents Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Estill Groce; son-in-law, Jerry Chapman; and sisters, Geneva Groce and Joyce Reynolds.
