Magaline Towry Simmons Obituary
Magaline Towry Simmons, 94, of Taft, Tennessee, passed away June 4, 2024, at Elk River Health and Rehab in Fayetteville.
Graveside services were held Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Kirkland Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Paul Williams officiating.
Magaline was born Feb. 23, 1930, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, to the late Ferrell and Ethel Henderson Towry. She worked for 40 years as a seamstress at Serbin Manufacturing and attended Prospect Baptist Church. Magaline loved tending to her home and farm where she raised bottle calves, enjoyed working in her garden and canning, and she adored her dogs.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Linda and Jerry Brown, Helen Towry, Rex and Elisa Towry, Renee and Keith Blackburn, Stanley Brown, Nancy Gray, Anthony Simmons, Johnny Simmons and Donna May, and Tonya and David Gordon; great-nieces and nephews, Jeremy and Brandi Brown, Carrissa and Christopher Harris, Joshua and Caitlin Blackburn, Lindsay Blackburn, Tyler and Faith Simmons, Travis and Emily Simmons, Maylee Simmons, Brittany Gordon, Emma Gordon, and Mollie Gordon; great-great nieces and nephews, Ellis Brown, Cora Brown, Ensleigh Harris, J.D. Fritz and Levi Fritz; sister-in-law, Annette Cooper; good friends and caregivers, Terry O’Neal, Don Bankston, Margaret Patterson, and Linda Cagle. In addition to her parents, Magaline was preceded in death by her husband, Colyar George Simmons; and brother, Thomas Towry and wife Sue.
