L. Angeline (Rachel) Moore Phillips Obituary

L. Angeline (Rachel) Moore Phillips, 83, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2024 at Hospice Family Care. She was born on July 25, 1940, in Hazel Green, Alabama, daughter of the late J.W. Homer and Virgil Inez (Esmer) Britton Moore.

Rachel dedicated her life to cooking and feeding people. She was an exceptional cook, and anyone who sat at her table always left with a smile on their face a satisfied stomach.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years: Kenneth Eugene Phillips; sisters: Ruby Medley, Lillie Mae Phillips and Carolyn White; and brothers: Lester Moore, Rufus Moore, Johnnie Moore, Roy T. Moore and Dickey Ray Moore.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by her daughter, Sherry Phillips (Rev. Cesar Augusto) Brooks; son, Edward E. Phillips; grandson, Taylor Kenneth Brooks; sister, Barbara A. Durham Davis; sisters-in-law, Ina Dale Moon and Sue Howard Moore; numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and last but not least, her faithful loving chihuahua dog, Sarah.

Rachel wanted it known that she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She gave her heart to Him at an early age and supported many ministries, including those in the country of Israel.

Funeral Services were conducted Sunday, May 26, 2024, in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home. Burial followed in Britton Cemetery.
