Bennie Lee Buchanan was born July 2, 1962, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, to the late Mr. James

Rufus Buchanan and the late Mrs. Dorothy Rebecca Owens Carmicle. He departed this life May 6,

2024, at the Donalson Care Center in Fayetteville, Tennessee.

Bennie was employed with the Shelbyville Housing Authority for many years until his health failed.

He loved and was loved by his family and friends. Besides his wife and other family members,

Bennie found comfort and joy in his pet dog, Abella Buchanan.

He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Buchanan; mother, Dorothy Carmicle; sisters,

Shirley Ann Lyons and Yvette Buchanan; and brother, Larry James Buchanan.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Vanessa Buchanan; four sisters,

Gloria (Stan) Kelso, Jo Ann Bean, Vickie (James Conley) Buchanan, and Gail Thomason; four

Brothers, Kent (Renea) Buchanan, Wayne (Melody) Buchanan, Ray Buchanan, and Tim Buchanan; one step-daughter, Felisha (Robert) Moore Honea; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, a host of relatives and friends and his beloved pet, Abella.

Graveside services were held May 13, 2024, at Pleasant View Cemetery in Fayetteville, Tennessee.
