Marie Isabella Hurd/Smith Obituary
Marie Isabella Hurd/Smith, 16, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024. She was born on Oct. 18, 2007 at Lincoln Medical Center. She left this life surrounded by her family.
Marie started her journey fighting at the age of two months with RSV. She was diagnosed with Gardner Syndrome at the age of four and had her first surgery at five. She began chemotherapy at this time with Dr. Scott Borinstein. Marie was a fighter and fought a good fight for 12 years with Dr. Borinstein by her side. Anyone who knew her always saw her with a smile on her face and her shining beautiful blue eyes.
Marie confessed her life to God at an early age. She was an usher and choir member at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church for numerous years. Marie later moved her membership to Mt. Zion Baptist at Wartrace with her grandfather, Pastor William E. Hurd. Marie had the faith of a “mustard seed” and loved The Trinity (Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost). She believed in prayer and believed it worked as it should. She was such a joy to be around. She was the true example of how God wants us to live our lives.
Marie was preceded in death by her nephew, Jamison Edwards.
She leaves to cherish her memories her father and mother, Timothy and Shinar Smith; two brothers, Brandon Smith and Timothy Neal Smith Jr.; six sisters, Shamee (Justin) Edwards, Aubrey Fox, Olivia McCraw, Trista Jade McFerrin, Alisha Thompson, and Sherry Ann Swing; one niece, Adaline Edwards; two nephews, Sebastian and Kaleb Edwards; grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. William (Brenda) Hurd, the Rev. and Mrs. Fletcher (Patricia) Smith II, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy (Darlene) Shelton; great-grandfather, Mr. Fletcher Smith; four uncles, Meko Robinson, Fletcher Smith III, Christopher (Ramona) Medearis and Ellery Douglas Hurd; three aunts, Jasmine (Courtney) Burse, Tashiba Hazlitt and Brooke Chapman; special relatives, Aunt Brenda Emmons, Denoris ‘Aunt Jean’ Epps, Harriet ‘Aunt Rena’ (Robert) Clark, Aunt Judy Smith and Aunt Lisa Smith; and a host of great aunts and uncles, cousins and other loving relatives.
