Jackie Marion Whitaker, 65, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed this life on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Whitaker, son, Jason Whitaker and brothers, R.L. and Calvin Whitaker.

The family has chosen cremation with a memorial service being planned for a later date.

A native of Lincoln County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Hazel and Louise Pitts Whitaker. Mr. Whitaker was a truck driver for Heath Oil and Mapco. Well known for his many nicknames such as Bubba, Whit and Grandpa Jack, he loved Tennessee sports of all kinds. Jackie was a history buff and he loved studying crime and conspiracy. He enjoyed weaponry, especially guns and knives. One of his favorite forms of entertainment was attending bluegrass festivals and spending time with his precious granddaughters.

Jackie is survived by his daughter, Jacklyn (Seth Holloway) Whitaker of Fayetteville, Tennessee; brother, Chester (Jean) Whitaker; sisters, Louise Mashburn, Nettie Campbell, Sarah Holder, Lola Gray, and Linda Mitchell; grandchildren, Amelia Holloway whom he called “Mill, Mill” and Emersyn Holloway whom he called “Em.”

Lynchburg Funeral Home is assisting the family and is in charge of arrangements.
