Frances Vann Mathis Obituary
Mrs. Frances Vann Mathis, 90, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away Jan. 30, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens with Bro. Don Russell officiating.
Frances was born Feb. 15, 1933, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, to the late Steve M and Lillie Thompson Vann. She was a graduate of Lincoln County Hospital Nursing School and was an LPN at 5th Avenue Hospital in Huntsville for many years. Just as in her chosen profession, Frances was a caregiver in every phase of her life. She found fulfillment in caring for her family, and she loved animals. Frances was a member of the Park City Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Van Mathis of Smyrna, Tennessee; daughters, Teresa Owen of New Market, Alabama, Chris Land (Stan Perry) of Westland, Michigan; grandchildren Stephanie (Steve) Skeen of Wayne, Michigan, Justin Mathis of Fayetteville, Jason (Stephanie) Mathis of Murfreesboro, John (Tiffany) Virjan of Canton, Michigan, Jamie (Gerry) Vanneste of Flushing, Michigan, and Rob Mathis of Smyrna, Tennessee; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, James Mathis; son, Steve Mathis; brother, Raymond Vann; sisters, Viola Ferguson, Estelle Towry and Darene Bates.
