James (Jimmy) Alford Brown Jr. Obituary

James (Jimmy) Alford Brown Jr. passed away on Nov. 28, 2023 at the age of 87. He is preceded in death by his parents, James A Brown Sr. (Jim) and Nanny Bell Brown, and his niece, Marissa Brown.

Born in Taft, Tennessee, Jimmy spent most of his life living in Fayetteville, and on his farm in Taft, Tennessee. He was a member of Prospect Baptist Church in Park City. He graduated valedictorian of his class at Hazel Green High School and was a graduate of Draughon’s Business College in Nashville.

Jimmy developed an impressive skillset throughout his life that included building homes with his father and brother, restoring countless antique cars and trucks, and managing his farm, all in addition to having a long and distinguished career with Redstone Arsenal Missile Command. Redstone Arsenal honored Jimmy with awards and accolades on numerous occasions for his outstanding mission support and sustained superior performance over the course of his 41-year career.

Lovingly known as Fuzzy Face, Jimmy was a wonderful husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed drinking coffee and sitting on the front porch with his beloved dogs, family, and friends, which often included his long-time farm neighbor, Vern Frazier. Jimmy also loved watching the Tennessee Vols play, traveling and camping. But most of all, he loved visiting with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He married Kathy in 1985 and they built a beautiful life together. Kathy was the love of his life and his best friend. Kathy rarely left his side during his health issues and Jimmy was very thankful to have her by his side.

Fuzzy Face will be remembered for his fun-loving soul, devoted attention to his family, and his big hugs.

Joining in the celebration of Jimmy’s life and legacy is his best friend and beloved wife of 38 years, Kathy Brown; his brother, Tony Brown (Teresa); his children, Teresa Stewart (Steve), Cynthia Moore (Jerome), Waylon Young (Sarah Mac), Weslee Young (Alaina); his grandchildren, Lindsey Mcmillian (Corbin Trent), Brad Stewart (Jessica), Callie Kelly (Trey), Logan Meeks and Emmy Rhea Young; his great-grandchildren, Trey McMillen, Tatum Mcmillian, Abby Trent and Josie Trent; his nephew, Travis Brown and great-niece Emma Brown.
