Edna Phipps Tipton of Fayetteville, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening. She was 86.

She was born April 23, 1937, along with her twin sister, the late Anna Phipps Gooding in Hazel Green, Alabama. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Toney and worked for Krystal for many years as a store manager.

Mrs. Tipton was preceded in death by her husband, James Crawford Tipton; parents, James and Ethia Bilbrey Phipps of Alabama; brother, Thurman Phipps of Michigan; Clarcie Phipps Elders of Alabama; Laura Phipps Hilsabeck of Washington; Elmer Phipps of Alabama; Lorene Phipps Canada of Alabama; Loyce Phipps Miller of Michigan; Mayzell Phipps Cork of Tennessee; Estelle Phipps Lee of Florida; and Denny Phipps of Texas.

Surviving family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Dianne Tipton of Knoxville, Tennessee; her daughter and son-in-law, Tonita and Roger Thompson of Fayetteville, Tennessee; her son, Jamie Tipton of Fayetteville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Andrew Tipton of Knoxville, Tennessee, Patrick Tipton of Sterling, Virginia, Julia Fenske of Portland, Oregon, Richard Tipton of Arcata, California, Kristian Bowman of Gurley, Alabama and Hunter Thompson of Madison, Alabama; and six great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Carson, Lochlan, Ella, Josie and Isaac.

Mrs. Tipton is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including Destany Holt, her personal nurse.

A graveside funeral service was held Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at Macedonia Cemetery with Pastor Randy Watts officiating.
