Anthony William Banks, 60, of Fayetteville, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, in Huntsville, Alabama.

A funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Dan Duncan officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens.

Tony was born June 4, 1963, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, to the late Hiram Edward Banks and Renate Frank Banks, who survives. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Tennessee and worked for Adtran in Huntsville for 16 years. Tony was a kind, thoughtful man of actions, not words. Although he was an engineer, he was artistic and creative. Tony enjoyed woodworking and made the best pancakes, lasagna, and deer jerky around. He loved to fish and hunt, wear camo, and be outdoors. He was a big UT fan, and his yard was always extra mowed when they lost. Tony loved God and he loved his family. He will be remembered for spending time with them fishing, teaching his son to kick a football, and perhaps mostly as “Pappy” riding his grandson Teddy on the lawnmower.

Survivors include his mother, Renate Banks of Fayetteville; his wife of almost 33 years, Penny Banks of Fayetteville; son Brandon Banks and his wife Katie of New Market; daughter, Brett Harrell and her husband Blaze of Fayetteville; grandsons, Teddy and Milo Banks; brother, Hiram “Junior” Banks of California; and many other family members and friends. Tony was preceded in death by his father, Hiram Banks.
