Sara Francis Hall Stevenson Obituary
Sara Francis Hall Stevenson, 97, of Fayetteville, Tennessee passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, surrounded by family at her home.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at Higgins Funeral Home with Minister Stan Stevenson officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Cemetery.
Sara was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Giles County, Tennessee, to the late Floyd E. and Mary Bishop Hall and grew up in Dellrose. She was the oldest girl of 12 children and was a tremendous help to her parents. To many of her siblings she was their second mother. Sara supported her husband Bud as the family moved to Georgia for his job with Lockheed. While raising her family she worked as a seamstress and sewing instructor for Singer Sewing Company. She also worked for a time at Rich’s Department Store. Sara was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Marietta, Georgia, for 52 years, and after moving back to Lincoln County in 2005 she worshipped at the West Fayetteville Church of Christ. She loved camping, sewing, and she definitely had a green thumb when it came to caring for her plants and flowers. Sara loved her family, and family always came first. Books could be filled about who Sara was and all she did, but she will be best remembered as the sunshine of their home and how she was deeply loved by all who knew her.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Carver and Donna (Tom) Blair of Fayetteville; son, Richard (Donna) Stevenson of Cartersville, Georgia; grandchildren, Shane (Theresa) Stevenson of Rockmart, Georgia, Slade (Serena) Stevenson of Cartersville, and Tom (Amanda) Blair of Marietta; great-grandchildren, Luke, Sam, and Ben Stevenson of Rockmart, Jessi, Andrew, and Samson Stevenson of Cartersville, and Ashley Blair of Marietta; sisters, Eva Ruth Stevenson and Mary Ann Tackett of Fayetteville; brothers, Dalton (Margaret) Hall and Mike (Darlene) of Dellrose, Paul (Judy) Hall of Anderson, South Carolina. She was loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by her husband, James Brown “Bud” Stevenson; sister, Rebecca Young; and brothers, Joe Hall, Carl Hall, Douglas Hall and Eugene “Shorty” Hall.
Memorial donations may be made to International Gospel Hour, PO Box 118, Fayetteville, TN 37334.
