Teddy “Ted” Ray McDow, 67, passed away Tuesday May 9, 2023, in Sparta, Tennessee.

Ted was born on Jan. 13, 1956, to parents, Kenneth Adolph McDow and Jessie Elaine Curtis McDow. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth “Mac” Thomas McDow.

Much of his career was spent managing fast food restaurants until he went back to school and got his bachelor’s degree and then spent the last part of his career working as an auditor for the state. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had great faith in his Heavenly Father.

Ted had a strong work ethic, always working hard and encouraging his children to do so. He enjoyed being outdoors and being at family gatherings. Ted also enjoyed tinkering with different things and woodworking. He was interested in family history, genealogy and politics.

He is survived by four children, Curtis McDow (Ashley McDow) of Fayetteville, Lori Beth Browning (John Browning) of Lebanon, Amy Elliott (Sam Elliott) of Knoxville and Andrew McDow of Athens; five grandchildren, his two sisters, Jane Fowler and Karen Vessell and his former wife, Gaye Henley.

There will be a short graveside memorial service held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday May 27, 2023, at Macedonia Cemetery in Fayetteville, Tennessee.
