Emma Jean Phelps Dangerfield Obituary
Emma Jean Phelps Dangerfield, 86, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1936, to Nathan Phelps and Annie John Wright, and was one of 11 children. She was a devoted wife for over 65 years to William Thomas Dangerfield. To this union four children were born. As a faithful member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, she served as a Mother. A tireless employee of Amana, she retired after more than 30 years of service. She also worked for a few years at the Petersburg Jeans Factory.
Emma was preceded in death by her oldest son, William Eric Dangerfield. She is survived by her loving husband, William Thomas Dangerfield; two sons, Douglas Dangerfield and Dean (Tina) Dangerfield; one daughter, Michele Dangerfield; sisters, Una Mae Syler and Edna Phelps; sisters in-law, Hildred Jones and Faye Phelps; daughter-in-law, Deborah Dangerfield; grandsons, Bailey Dangerfield, Brian Dangerfield, Jalen Dangerfield, Kalen Dangerfield, Xavier (Kassie) Dangerfield and Edrick Hawk; granddaughter, Kierra Dangerfield; great-granddaughters, Ruby Grace Dangerfield, Aubrey Hawk, Jeriya Hawk and Nahziah Howard; devoted family friend, Allyson Sneed and many other relatives and friends.
