25 years ago April 11, 2001 Easter ‘Eggstravaganza’ – Stephen Dean and Madison Phillips check over their findings following Saturday’s Easter Eggstravaganza sponsored by the Fayetteville Department of Parks and Recreation at the Lions Club Complex. Well over 100 out for the hunts. Two-year-old Stephen is the son of Michael and Patsy Dean of Fayetteville, and Madison, also 2, is the daughter of Sane and Laurie Phillips of Fayetteville.
Lady Falcon Softball team – Lincoln County’s Lady Falcon softball team is already taking the field this spring. Members are Loren Milstead, Deanna Quick, Ashley Rollins, Lauren Bankstrom, Crystal Wiser, Eagin Cunningham, Susan Mitchell, Coach Troy Smith, Victoria Taylor, Amanda King, Cassie Ogle, Sheena Hollis, Jennifer Atchley, Stephanie Pike, Elizabeth Chapman, Megan Hollis, and Assistant Coach Tommy Chambers.
Vol-State Bound – Lincoln County catcher Brad Meeks, along with his family and high school Coach Troy Slone and Volunteer State Coach Mike Crossland, look on as Meeks signs scholarship papers to head to the junior college in Gallatin.
Pierce pitches second
consecutive no-hitter – Falcon pitcher Dale Pierce pulled another no-no out of his hat; no hitting the Columbia Lions, making it his second in eight days as the team took a 2-1 victory. The Falcons jumped on top with a pair of runs coming in the second and fifth innings. In the fifth, the razzle dazzle was pulled out as a double steal was executed, and Thomas Osteen stole home for their second run.
50 years ago April 8, 1976 Danny Beasley named State 4-H Governor – Danny Beasley, a Lincoln Central High School junior, has been elected 4-H governor of Tennessee for 1976-77 at the 29th State 4-H Congress in Nashville. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Farris Beasley of Fayetteville and is a leader in Lincoln County area, and state 4-H activities. Joining young Beasley in representing Lincoln County were Doug Schoenrock, David Redden, Lydia Welch, and Debbie Cleek.
Win Letters – Football letters were awarded during Flintville High School’s annual athletic banquet on Tuesday. Senior football lettermen are Tommy Clark, Ricky Hall, Don Hudson, Dickie Bolles, head football coach; Dwayne Towry, James Jordan, Ronnie Gulley, Wayne Steelman, and Mark Bain.
Earn Letters – Seniors winning letters for basketball at Flintville High School were honored at the School’s athletic banquet Tuesday. James Jordan, F.C. Duggin, girls’ basketball coach, Charlotte Edwards, and Kymmie Mason.
Cheerleaders Honored – Flintville High School cheerleaders were honored during the school’s athletic banquet Tuesday, The 1975-76 Flintville cheerleaders are Karhy Kennedy, Debra McClellan, Cindy Johnson, Sandi Snoody, Cindy Shepard, and Teresa Daniel.
