May 15 Veterans & Community Town Hall

The community is invited to the 6 p.m. Veterans and Community Town Hall at Lincoln County Department of Education (NGA) Auditorium, 909 Main Avenue South. The key topic is transportation challenges for veterans to the VA for medical appointments in Nashville, Murfreesboro and Columbia. The open forum is also for the public to learn how veterans support the community and to recognize businesses that support veterans.

Spring Plant Sale at Flintville School

Flintville School will have its spring plant sale from 3:15 to 5 p.m. at the greenhouse located across from the school. Plants include 18 varieties of tomatoes, sweet and hot peppers, cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, six varieties of cucumbers, three varieties of squash, zucchini and gourdluff a. Prices are $2 for 3-pack or $1; $1 for single plant and $2 for doubles.

May 16 New Hope Cemetery at Talley Decoration Day

New Hope Cemetery at Talley Decoration Day begins at 9 a.m. Donations for the upkeep and expenses of the cemetery may be made that day or mailed to First National Bank, 1190 North Ellington Parkway, Lewisburg, TN 37091 or at the bank’s main office. The cemetery is located on Fishing Ford Road, Petersburg.

Vanntown Volunteer Fire Rescue Annual Homecoming

Vanntown Volunteer Fire Rescue’s Annual Homecoming begins at 9 a.m. at 320 Vanntown Road, Flintville. Local bands will be playing throughout the day, along with a live auction of donated items. Pit BBQ and chicken will be for sale. Bouncy houses will be onsite for the kids.

Decoration Day at Bethel Cemetery

Decoration Day at Bethel Cemetery in Fayetteville will be held along with a business meeting that begins at 10 a.m. Donations can be sent to Buddy English, Treasurer, at 23 Letha Thompson Rd, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

Families with family members buried at the cemetery are encouraged to attend.

May 17 Charity Baptist Church Homecoming

Charity Baptist Church Homecoming will feature a performance by the Cavaliers at 10 a.m. A potluck meal will follow the service. The church is located at 129 Bagley Hollow Road.

Decoration Day at Unity Cemetery

Decoration Day at Unity Cemetery in Howell begins at 8 a.m. and will continue all day. Donations may be made that day or mailed to Wyanne King, 901 Second Avenue, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

May 25 Lincoln County Memorial Day Service

The Lincoln County Memorial Day Service begins at 10 a.m. at Lincoln Central Academy Auditorium, 900 Main Avenue South. The public is invited to honor and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

May 28 Music in the Park

Midnight Jane will open this year’s Music in the Park, held at 6:30 p.m. the last Thursday of each month through August at Stone Bridge Park. The series is sponsored by the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be onsite. May 30 Master Chef benefit dinner

A Master Chef Dinner benefitting the Humane Society of Lincoln County will be held at the Gleghorn Hospitality House, 315 College Street East. Master Chef Kimberly Karver will be preparing a culinary experience for two seatings, one at 6:30 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. Cost is $85 per guest. June 1 Tennessee Kids Summer Challenge

Tennessee Kids Summer Challenge is open to all rising kindergartners through rising sixth graders from June 1-Aug. 1. First Lady Marie Lee invites Tennessee students to devote a portion of their summer break to serving the community through the summer challenge. Participants must complete a service activity from at least two of the eight service categories provided and a minimum of service hours to complete the challenge. Top challenge participants will be invited to join Gov. Bill and Marie Lee for a carnival at the Tennessee residence in September. June 4 SCHRA meetings

The South Central Human Resource Agency will hold a governing board meeting at 11 a.m. at the SCHRA Central Office. The budget, audit, appropriations, property personnel and 1303 committees will meet at 10 a.m. Both meetings will be held at 1437 Winchester Highway.

June 13 Petersburg Parks and Recreation Fun and Fireworks

Petersburg Parks and Recreation’s Fun and Fireworks and a beginner’s paint class will begin at 2 p.m. at the Petersburg Community Center, 509 Railroad Street. The event is a fundraiser for the Recreation Center.

June 18 CPH presents I Hear America Singing

Carriage House Players presents I Hear America Singing at 7 p.m. June 18, 19 and 20 at the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Museum & Civic Center, 521 Main Avenue South, Fayetteville. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for students. Call 931-433-1300 for reservations.

June 20 Petersburg 12th Annual Truck and Tractor Pull

Petersburg’s Lion Club’s 12th Annual Truck and Tractor Pull begins at 7 p.m. at the Lions facility, 3000 Free Silver Road, Petersburg. Classes for beginner competitors to those with specialized machines will be included in the competition. Admission for parking is $10.

June 27 Camp Blount Open House

An Open House will be held at the Greer Cabin at Camp Blount from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. as part of the America’s 250th Celebration. Joseph Greer is Lincoln County’s connection to the Revolutionary War. His cabin was rebuilt on the grounds of Camp Blount, located at 1371 Huntsville Highway.

Mondays Petersburg Senior Citizens Center Chair Yoga

Petersburg Senior Citizens Center, 68 Morgan Circle, offers chair yoga classes from 10:30 until 11 a.m. The center is open from 9 a.m. until noon Mondays through Fridays. Bingo games are from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Call 931536-5568 to register to play bingo.

Bingo 55+ at the Recreation Center

Senior Center activities

FLC Senior Center offers activities, including pool, corn hole, cards, ping pong and board games, for those 55 and over from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Special activity days and classes are offered throughout the month. Bingo is every Friday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.

McBurg FCE meets first Mondays

Tuesdays Free Bingo at American Legion VFW

The American Legion Post 42 VFW, 2007 Wilson Parkway, has bingo the second and fourth Tuesdays for all ages. The kitchen opens at 5 p.m.; bingo kicks off at 6 p.m.; dessert is served at 7 p.m. Kids are also welcome. Proceeds help support local veterans, flags, maintaining the crosses and the community.

Free clothing to families in need

The Old Time Christian Outreach Center, 1992 Pulaski Highway (Hwy. 64 West), provides free clothing to families in need. The center is open Tuesdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. for clothing or monetary donations. For more information call 931-205-7878.

Wings of Love Ministries

Wings of Love Ministries, located at 5 East Prospect Road in Park City, offers assistance on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The nonprofit, non-denominational ministry supports women in times of personal need, offering free Bibles, emergency food, clothing and other life needs as the situation requires. Exercise classes are offered from 9:15 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Senior Center. Cost is $10 per month.
