Ramona “Mona” Elva Hamre-Arteno was born in Superior, Wisconsin, on Nov. 30, 1937. She was the youngest daughter of Beatryce M. Stockham and Clifford W. Lind.

She came face to face with Jesus on Dec. 19, 2024, at 12:34 p.m. Mona gave her heart and life to Jesus on Dec. 23, 1987.

She was member of West Ajo Baptist Church while in Tucson, Arizona.

Her oldest daughter, Karin Jean Maggard preceded her in death in March 2009.

She leaves two other daughters, Sharin Deneen Taylor and Debra Lind Apple. She has three children she considered hers too by Gordon J. Arteno, whom she was married to for 28 years. Those children are Anthony Gordon Arteno, Annette Lavone Nackes and Christopher James Artero. She has 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Her parents and her brother, Peter Alan MacManus also preceded her in death. She has one sister, Renee Chelmo of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Mona was raised in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She was a graduate of St. Louis Park, Minnesota. She attended both Pima and the University of Arizona. She was the member of a 12-step program since 1974.

Mona lived in Tucson, Arizona, from 1974 until 2005, when she moved to the great state of Tennessee to become a farmer’s wife.

She was a member of West End Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Tennessee.

She hopes to see you all on the other side (that’s Heaven). She had a great life and her only regret is not serving the Lord earlier in her life.

She loved so many and did the best she could. “I wait for you all up yonder,” she said before her death. “Please come.”

Her favorite songs were “Because He lives,” I’m so glad to be a part of the family of God,” “It is well with my soul,” “Precious Lord take my hand,” “I believe in Jesus,” “Shine Jesus shine,” “Tell it to Jesus,” and “When Jesus steps out on a cloud to call his children.”
