Phillip McCown, 90, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday. 

He was a longtime Christian and member of the Wells Hill Church of Christ.

Mr. McCown served in the United States Army and then graduated from Lipscomb University. He had retired from Fayetteville Public Utilities after 50 years of service in various roles including finance director.  

Phillip loved family and served as his family’s genealogist and historian.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kathleen Wood McCown; his parents, Otis and Linnie McCown; and his siblings, Carol Chandler, Barbara Spencer, Newman McCown, Joyce Mahal, Gail Cornelius, and Darrine Roper.

Surviving family members include his son, Chuck McCown; his sister, Judy McCown; his brother, Danny McCown; his brother, Joe McCown; and his brother, Larry McCown. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

A graveside service was held Thursday, March 15, 2024, at Macedonia Cemetery with Bro. Richard McWilliams officiating.
