Book signing and open house set for June 27 at Camp Blount

Staff reports
History enthusiasts and book lovers are invited to meet local author Rick Laws at a special book signing from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, June 27 at the historic Joseph Greer Cabin on the grounds of the Camp Blount Historic Site in Fayetteville. The free event is held in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary and coincides with an open house at one of Lincoln County’s most storied landmarks.
Laws will be signing copies of his newest title, “American Invention – Enlightenment to Innovation,” a sweeping exploration of the ideas, minds and movements that shaped American ingenuity from the Age of Enlightenment through the nation’s great eras of innovation.
The signing will also feature Laws’ growing catalog of works on early American history and culture, including:
• “Symbols of America – An American Creation” (available in hardback and softcover), an examination of the symbols and iconography that define the American national identity;
• “The House of the Messenger – Recovery and Reconstruction of the Kings Mountain Messenger’s Dogtrot House, (available in hardback and softcover), a detailed account of the preservation of a remarkable piece of Revolutionary-era architecture; and
• “Revolutionary Verse – In Celebration of America 250,” (Chapbook, 82 pages), a collection of poetry written in honor of the nation’s semi-septennial.
Special event pricing will be offered on all titles and a limited number of print copies will be available for purchase. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own copies for signing as well.
Steeped in early Tennessee and Revolutionary War history, the Joseph Greer Cabin provides a fitting backdrop for a celebration of American heritage and the written word, according to Laws.
Those unable to attend in person may purchase Laws’ full catalog through his Lulu Author Spotlight page at lulu.com/spotlight/ lawsrl (scroll to the bottom for the complete catalog) or through his Amazon Author Page at amazon. com/author/rick_laws.
