Mary Grace Newman is in the running for county commissioner representing District 2 in the Aug. 6 election.
“I am running to bring a new generation of leadership and new representation to my district and community,” Newman said. “I believe our county deserves leadership that is present, responsive, and focused on the people it serves, while still respecting the values and traditions that define our community.”
Newman said District 2 deserves a commissioner who listens, shows up and takes the responsibility of this office seriously.
“This community has poured into me throughout my life and I would not be who I am today without it,” she said. “From my family roots to the values that guide me, this county has shaped who I am. I believe it is my turn to invest back into the community that has given me so much and that is what ultimately led to my decision to run.” See Newman, Page 4A Newman said through her involvement in the community, she has seen how meaningful local leadership can be when it is rooted in humility, service, and genuine care for people.
“Leadership is not about holding a title, but about showing up, listening and treating others with respect,” Newman said. “When local officials are approachable, engaged and willing to be a steady presence, they can make a real difference. I want to be part of that difference.”
Newman said she has developed a deep appreciation for local government because she has seen firsthand how county-level decisions impact everyday life.
“When local government is transparent, responsible and accessible, it builds trust and strengthens the entire community,” she said. “I believe leadership should reflect the values of being a good neighbor, someone people feel comfortable turning to.
“As county commissioner, I will be committed to upholding these principles by being reliable, accessible, and accountable. I will prioritize transparency, fiscal responsibility, and staying present and engaged with the people I serve. I want every resident to know they have a commissioner who will listen, respond and work on their behalf.”
Newman said she has met all qualifications for the office and she has filed the required paperwork with the Election Commission.
“I would be honored to earn your support and your vote,” Newman said. “A vote for a new voice, new representation and a new direction.”
