FCE Top 10 Homemakers announced at 100% Luncheon

The Lincoln County Family Community Education (FCE) held their annual 100% Luncheon at the Gleghorn Hospitality House on Saturday, April 11, sponsored annually by the Bank of Lincoln County. FCE’s sole purpose is for community support and outreach.

“We have two main fundraisers each year,” said Lisa Ritter, FCE reporter. The first is the Sweetheart Bake Sale in February and the second is the Casseroles and More Sale the Friday before Thanksgiving. Both fundraisers have allowed the FCE to provide $500 scholarships to graduating seniors from all four high school programs — Lincoln County High, Fayetteville City High, Riverside Christian Academy, and Chestnut Ridge/Homeschool — as well as to assist 4th and 5th grade students needing financial help to attend the 4H Summer Camp, Ritter said.

In addition to providing scholarships, FCE Club members go out into the county to provide monetary or material assistance to churches, food banks, the Warrior Exhibit, VA homes, local fire departments and community centers, Crossroads Pregnancy Center, the Humane Society and more. “Our members volunteer thousands of hours to help individuals and organizations year round,” Ritter said. In the recent past, the FCE was asked to keep track of members’ volunteer hours. In 2025, members racked up more than 15,000 volunteer hours, Ritter said.

High school students needing to fulfill their community service hours for specific clubs or scholarships are welcome to tag along with any of the FCE members. Contact the UT Extension Office at 4331582 to be connected to the appropriate FCE member.

All volunteer hours are submitted to the central region and the state of Tennessee and used by companies and government officials to determine suitable locations for manufacturing plants, corporate main offices and to determine what financial assistance would benefit specific areas, Ritter said. The annual 100% Luncheon is a way for the Bank of Lincoln County and the FCE to recognize all the hard work these folks do within the county.

“All year long, members keep track of their volunteer activities, how many hours are spent doing these activities, and how many people have been affected,” she said. In the early spring, a detailed form is submitted by each club member to the luncheon committee. The committee in turn verifies the member’s activities and ensures the correct amount of points have been claimed. To reach 100% status, a member must complete activities that award at least 750 participation points. After all points are tallied and verified, members with top 10 total points are recognized with certificates at the luncheon, Ritter said.

The 2025 top 10 Homemakers in Lincoln County are: 10 – Debra Quarles, Molino FCE; 9 – Polly Pedersen, McBurg FCE; 8 – Lisa Ritter, Dellrose Hotrock FCE; 7 – Cheryl McKelvey, McBurg FCE; 6 – Angelea Matteo-Sullivan, Dellrose Hotrock FCE; 5 – Belinda Lance, Dellrose Hotrock FCE, 4 – Henrietta Towry, McBurg FCE; 3 – Pat Jones, Mimosa FCE; 2 – Carole Swinford, McBurg FCE; and 1 – Ellie Yancey, Mc-Burg FCE.
